About the Author

Wally Kroeker grew up in southern Manitoba with one foot on the farm and one in the city. He descends from two different streams of Russian Mennonites. His paternal ancestors emigrated from the Chortitza Colony, Russia, to southern Manitoba in 1876. His mother migrated as a child from the Molotschna Colony, Russia, in 1925. He has spent more than 35 years as a reporter and editor, specializing in business and religion. He began his career with the Regina (Saskatchewan) Leader-Post and later served as editor of the Saskatchewan Business Journal and as business writer and assistant city editor of the Winnipeg Tribune. He was assistant editor of Moody Monthly (Chicago) and for 10 years was editor of The Christian Leader, the magazine of the U.S. Mennonite Brethren Church. Since 1985 Kroeker has been director of publications for Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) and editor of its magazine, The Marketplace. His freelance articles have appeared in nearly a hundred business and religious publications. He is author of GodÂ’s Week Has Seven Days (Herald) and co-author of Faith Dilemmas for Marketplace Christians (Herald). Kroeker studied journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago and completed his undergraduate degree in religious studies at Tabor College, Hillsboro, Kansas. He has a Master of Arts degree in theology from the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, Fresno, Calif. He and his wife Millie have two sons, Scott and Joel.

A complete and thorough review of my heritage starting with my Grandfather born in South Russia, immigration to Canada as a young boy, and then living with him during WW2 while my father was in the Navy. Bought a book for each of my four children and found their response was overwhelming. Both my great-grandfather and grandfather were mentioned in the book living in Steinbach, Manitoba. To know your heritage is a wonderful thing but most important is sharing it with my children and grand-children.

It's a very easy read. The details listed matched up with the stories past down from my Russian immigrant ancestors.

Wally Kroeker has written a short work about Russian Mennonites. It does give some factual information about the history, but fails to adequately explain the faith behind the works. Mr. Kroeker tends to view the tenets of the Anabaptist faith as cultural peculiarities.This book might be a good inexpensive work, but Mr. Kroeker needs to spend a considerable amount of time with the Old Colony or the more conservative Kleine Gemeinde to get a better grasp of exactly WHY they do the things they do. That's whats missing!

This is a great book. I got it today & I've already read the lot. I can already tell that this will be easy for me to follow, especially compared to a lot of the other visual arts techniques books I have read. Even if you're keen on digital art I believe that learning to use the raw materials is fundamentally important to being a good artist IMHO.I am not a beginner when it comes to drawing but I've had a big hiatus from drawing so I'm looking to review & update my style. I've decided to go the "How To Draw Manga" book series route. As far as colouring is concerned I used other mediums to Copic/Similar markers so I'm very much a beginner when it comes to using Copics/Similar markers. Most adults & visual arts student will find this easy to follow but I think an absolute beginner would still be ok with this.I've searched high & low for decent Copic colouring books & DVD's specifically for Manga & so far this is best resource I've found. Most Copic DVD's/Books tend to be specific on rendering for products (technical drawing) which can help but this is a solid manga focused colouring book. This won't give you everything. I'll be searching for additional books/DVD's when I'm done practising everything though this one but it is definitely a solid place to start.A word on materials described in this book. Copics are widely available but you could use other markers & what is explained in the book still applies. Don't freak out that there are Japan-only materials or other materials that are hard to get. If you get too bogged down in getting the exact stuff listed in this book you'll never get around to colouring. You don't need "Too/Copic brand specific tracing paper" either for instance, any arts store can provide other tracing paper that does the same thing. There are always alternate materials that can get the job done just as well - so be a bit flexible. If you don't have much of an arts background then google/wiki the material from the book you're looking for & print off a description of what it is, go to your local arts store & I'm sure they'll find you a good alternative or way to get around it.There are a couple of pictures showing a little skin but there are no uncovered female genitalia or nipples showing. So I read three books from the author today on eBay. One book was five stars (the shipping book), one was three stars (on how to get started selling on ebay), and this book. The three star book had very basic information and a lot of one paragraph pages with LOTS of white space. I actually asked Amazon for a refund as the formatting and presentation (inflated number of pages) was unfair and not appropriate. The shipping book was great - had mostly full pages of excellent content. Thankfully, I am satisfied and I'll keep that book.This book has really great information. And it's the information that makes it a great book. What pisses me off is that the book again, like the get started book, is FULL of pages with lots of WHITE space making the book appear to have more content than what it actually has. If the book had some pictures of the brands the author was talking about - it would be a five star book. But with an excessive amount of one paragraph pages - I am only awarding this five star book four stars. I hope the author will fix the formatting or add some pictures and I'll be glad to revise this review. It's a shame because the information really did rock! 4 stars.

This book has some really good information in it, but it only covers one aspect of the whole process. It gives you tips on what to look for, how to post, etc., but it left out the most important info: SHIPPING. How can you have an internet based business if you don't know the ins and out of getting the product to your customer? Of course, she does say towards the end of this book that you can purchase her next book on shipping. I really think that shipping should have been in this book, or at least let customers who buy this book know that it is only Chapter 1 and if they want to know more then they have to buy more books.

I'd estimate that about half of this book has good information in it. The other half though will cost you tons of money if you follow it. An experienced seller might learn a thing or two from the book but somebody just getting started will learn many bad habits if they follow Eckhart's suggestions.

Being a new reseller on eBay myself this book was very informative and helpful. I have purchased several of Ann's books.With this book I was able to see what I was doing wrong as I had very little sales. Also she covered items I was most interested in selling on eBay. From what type of clothes sold well to vintage items she went over the basics.I do have one thing to say though. Please keep in mind that these items may not be what you are interested in selling as your niche. This worked well for me.

I received this because I just wanted to see what they are saying. This would probably be more valuable to people who have no experience at all. Otherwise, it is rehashing what you already know. I am giving it 4 stars because it is well written.

I have sold a few items on ebay and was looking for sources in the winter months for items i could resell. This is a good guide for those who are familiar with selling on Ebay with what to look for and where to find it.

I was surprised at some of the things I read in this book. I did not realize the X, XX, etc., sizes would be bigger sellers among other things. I do feel I gained a lot of knowledge by reading the book. This is a great book for someone never having sold clothes on Ebay. It is written exceptionally well. I would definitely recommend this book.

I loved this book through and through. I believe it is a must-read for Muslims seeking a critical analysis of the history of the interpretive tradition of their religion, as well as people who want to learn more about Islam. He does not take an apologetic (and therefore weak and defensive) stance which is particularly refreshing. That Hadith about 72 virgins? He talks at length in the book itself and includes an appendix as well! He takes care to present multiple viewpoints with nuance, leaving the reader to think for herself about which argument and use of evidence seems most convincing.Th reason I consider this book compassionate is that Brown manages to capture the raw yearning for meaning and spirituality among humans of all heritages without sacrificing intellectual honesty or academic rigor. The questions in this regard which he poses are not uncritically sympathetic to his own identification with Islam, but instead highlight the human civilization's search for meaning and our cumulative efforts to collect, categorize, standardize and neatly package Truth as tradition.I can't believe I waited so long to read this book!

For Muslims Al Quran is infallable. And Hadiths, despite composed by men, are a close second. But in reality the people who read them are still subject to (mis)interpretation, are prone to errors and human emotions like greed and envy, or can have their own hidden agendas using religious doctrines. This book is about that human fallability.The book shows the complex intellectual and spiritual debates on the interpretation of Al Quran, and how complicated and political the writings of the Hadiths are. It shows that Islam is where it is today not only through the conquerings and assimilations, but also as a result of many theological frictions occurring for the past 1400 years.The central message of this book is very straight to the point: we need to read Al Quran wholly, from cover to cover (or Khatam). Reading only some verses of Al Quran or just bits and pieces would take the verses out of context, and thus their individual messages could be highly misleading - the major problem the world has always had since the 600s, especially today.Chapter 3 was spot on in highlighting this point. The author, Jonathan A.C. Brown, shows the infalibility of the work of Shakespeare, the Bibble, even Homer's Illiad and Odyssey, where each one of them have obvious flaws but were overlooked. So why should we intellectually scrutinise the blank spots of the Quran? The point of this chapter is, if we read the texts separately it will indeed produce oddities and flaws (or blank spots), but if we read them wholly the big picture will make sense in the end, just like the work of Shakespeare and Homer.Moreover, it seems like everything are being discussed by his book. Everything, including controversial topics like the Hadith about masturbation, the long debate about who is entitled for zakat, and the relevancy of Quranic verses and Hadiths in modern time. It also discusses whether a woman can lead a mass prayer, an extensive discussion and analysis on syariah banking, and those 72 virgins alledgedly "promised" to martyrs.It also shows the extensive debate between Muslim ulamas and philosophers on reading the Quran and Hadiths in a literal way, including the literal reality of heaven and hell. Most importantly, using many references from various ulamas and scholars, the author also directly answer one controversial verse with another verse that cancels it out, and explains the reasoning and the context for those particular verses to emerge.For example, the controversial verse "when you meet the unbelievers in battle, smite their necks until you overcome them, then bind them as prisoners, either then setting them free out of munificence or for a ransom, until the war ends...." (47:4) is actually cancelled out by "It is not for a prophet to take prisoners until he has triumphed in the land" (8:67) and "Fight the polytheists altogether as they fight you altogether" (9:36).Another example is the "wife beating verse" (An-Nisa 4:34) that is often misinterpreted, because the syariah in no way condoned a husband striking his wife, and the Prophet himself never struck a hand on any of his wives. A similar controversy lies in "honour killing", where the book clearly state that no Muslim scholar of any sect throughout history has sanctioned a man killing his wife or sister or daughter for tarnishing family honour. I've been aware of this Paulist Press title for many years, but had expected a dry, academic study... that would chafe at my own preference for texts that transmit a living, palpable baraka (spiritual magnetism), therefore it took a few decades to get around to finally ordering a copy. Now, I wish I hadn't waited so long. The book is deep, and filled with beauty. As well, both the translation and scholarship are well up to the high standards one would expect from any of the books in this famous Paulist Press series (Classics of Western Spirituality).Fakhruddin Iraqi: Divine Flashes (Classics of Western Spirituality)

This ancient text, from a follower in the Sufi school of Ibn-Arabi, is a wonderfully done combination of translation and text. The history of this master, with the major concepts he is working in, was fascinating, though it takes study. This sets the stage for the flashes themselves, which are further explained, adding depth, in a later commentary section. The poetry may not appeal to those who want the accessibility and lyric beauty of Rumi; but they are quite beautiful and moving. I find reading The Divine Flashes an excellent way to enter meditation.

Fakhruddin `Iraqi (1213-1289) was already in his time a famous Sufi poet-gnostic, who was particularly gifted in expressing the mysteries of Union in the language of love. He lived during the thirteenth century at the peak of the revival of Islamic spirituality, and was contemporary with such figures as Ibn `Arabi, Jalaluddin Rumi and Shams Tabrizi, Sadruddin Qunawi, Najmuddin Kubra, and Kermani.`Iraqi may be considered as one of the "fideli d'Amore" of Persian Sufism, gnostics who considered love as the foundation of transcendent awareness, such as Mansur al-Hallaj, Ahmad Ghazzali, `Ayn al-Qodhat Hamdhani, Ruzbihan Baqli, and Shihabuddin Suhrawardi."Divine Flashes" is his prose masterpiece, in which he re-wrote, in the language of love, the "Fusus al-Hikam" (lit. "The Seals of the Wisdoms") of Ibn al-`Arabi. Each "Flash" of `Iraqi corresponds with a "Seal of Wisdom" of Ibn al-`Arabi. After his death, `Iraqi was buried, at his request, beside the tomb of Ibn al-`Arabi in Damascus.Through the "Lama'at" (Divine Flashes), the theoshophy of Ibn al-`Arabi was recreated and integrated into the Persion poetic tradition, and its influence on later poets cannot be overestimated.Moreover, according to Sadruddin Qunawi, spiritual heir and stepson of Ibn al-`Arabi, " `Iraqi, you have published the secret of men's words. The "Lama'at" is in truth the pith of the "Fusus"!"I like this text very much, although I had to struggle with this book. I think that the layout could be a little better. I have solved this by doing the following: type out the main text in my computer (while leaving out less important sentences); cut the sentences into a general poetry format. Only then could I more easily go through the text."I gaze at the glass which reveals my beautyand see the universe but an image of that image.In the paradise of theophany I am the Sun: marvel notthat every atom becomes a vehicle of my manifestation."What are the Holy Spirits? - The delegates of my secret;and the shapes of men? - The vessels of my bodily form.World-encircling Ocean? - A drop of my overflowing effusion;purest Light? - But a spark of my illumination."This book is a must-read, must-own for anyone seriously interested in its subject. This book of Divine Flashes confirmed to me the importance as I have always felt that Love plays in one's life in the divine sense before entering the Path of Light and how absolutely necessary it is in one's development during the process of inner change and growth. Iraqi shows that unlike many of our christian teachings, an intermidiary is not necessary to approach God. This is a great book for one who has had a number of years already on the Path. If you are Christian it may seem very incorrect in it's teachings; so wait a while and then come back to it. Great book - well worth the investment - and time to read it.

This is THE service manual for these cars, from the days when cars were simple enough to put pretty much everything in a single hardback book. If you own a Beetle, you need a copy (If you don't want to work on your own car, what are you doing with an air-cooled VW?). I bought this for my 16 year old son when he acquired his '74 Beetle. He knows a bit about cars and tools, and this is his starting place for anything he needs to do to improve and maintain a car built 22 years before he was born. It doesn't however, tell you everything. There's not a lot of information about the body, for example how to remove and repair a window regulator. But it's a starting place, and as the new owner of an old car that's been alternately well- and poorly-maintained by different owners, this book has allowed him to unravel twisted wiring mistakes and restore his Beetle to something close to it's original form.

I first bought this book in 1982 and have used it since then to do simple repairs (since I don't have access to a lot of specialized tools) and diagnose problems--it is the book to have to understand what makes your VW tick. Based on some of the reviews here, I was under the impression that it had been updated and expanded so I purchased the newer edition. Other than moving the color wiring diagrams to the back of the book, I can't find anything that has been updated. So, if you don't have a copy and have a classic Beetle or Karmann Ghia, you need this. If you have an earlier edition, you should purchase this only if you want an extra copy.

The Bible for anyone that owns a VW, because unless you're loaded and can pay someone to fix all of the myriad things that are gonna need fixing, you need this to show you how. There are some things not covered in great detail in this, a Haynes manual helps along with sites like The Samba.

I needed this manual to restore a 1974 Super Beetle. In most instances it has helped. The electrical schematics on the 72 thru 74 beetles are harder to read than the earlier models. The earlier schematics helped locate various connectors and terminations. Like a lot of manuals of this type the instructions are sometimes not helpful. Example: remove such-and-such part. It would be helpful to explain in more detail, like remove the hidden bolt or explain the way to remove a clip that was obviously designed by an engineer working on a secret project.

We haven't completely dived into any major repairs, but have referenced this book for information about fixing the horn, fixing electrical wiring that's been noodled around with and tune-up specs, etc... So far it has provided enough detail, that is easily understood. It does seem to assume some prior vehicle mechanical knowledge or experience. My only complaint has been the lack of an index....sometimes it's difficult to locate your topic. The book is divided into 8-9 sections, each section has a table of contents....but when you're looking for something small, you have to guess which category it might fall into -- then read the table of contents to see which subheading it might be under...and if you don't see it in the tables of contents, you have to scan the sections.

Got a beetle? Then buy this manual. The wiring diagrams alone are worth the price of the whole book.

This is exactly what the husband ordered and he loves it! Great manual with all the details for him to maintain his 1972 Volkswagon Superbeetle. He is one happy camper now and couldn't be more pleased. Shoot, you'd think it was a novel as he is reading it from cover to cover. Go figure! Nice big volume, big type lettering, easy to read and follow along. Very good manual and a must for all those VW enthusiasts who like to DIY.

The definitive service manual for Beetles, Super Beetles and Karmann Ghias from 1970 to 1979. Bentley also makes one for earlier models. Very descriptive procedures and wiring diagrams, IN COLOR!
